Course overview
Course description
Join me for this Traditional Chair yoga, derived from traditional yoga, an ancient practice with poses that date back over 5,000 years.Traditional yoga poses can be replicated as sitting yoga poses or yoga stretches using a chair. This adaptation makes chair yoga both suitable and enjoyable for individuals at all levels of experience, so whether you are a complete beginner or at another level. Chair yoga is a general term for practices that modify standing yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a suitable chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who cannot stand, lack the mobility to move easily from standing to seated to supine positions, or want a quick break from office work! Many of the basic body mechanics of the individual postures remain the same. While seated on chairs, you will join me in various versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild backbends. A whole body work out every week. On this course we will also be using staps (the tutor will advise you of this when you start the course), which takes your practice to a deeper level. You will experience an increased level of flexibility and muscle strenght. It would be beneficial to wear comfortable clothing, bring some water and as your screen will be musted during the session; play your own choice of music. Your tutor will give you verbal amendments online and written feedback during the course. Because chair yoga is all about adaptability, it should come as no surprise that the type of chair you use is not important; just make sure you have a back support. The good this is that you don don't have to buy a specialized yoga chair.
