Level of study
Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

What we’ll cover
Learn to use a dictionary to explore new and unfamiliar vocabulary in English
Understand and follow written instructions and directions
Read and understand how to fill out forms asking for personal information
Understand the main points of a text talking about events or instructions
Read and be able to explain who a text is aimed at and what it’s about
This is an English course for adults. You will work on developing your reading skills.
You need foundational reading skills to take this course, that’s why you’ll need to do a skills check to enrol. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level.

When you complete this module, you can continue with other entry 2 ESOL courses. Once you finish the reading, writing, and speaking & listening courses, you can progress to entry 3 level.
